Glitter Art

This is a fun an easy craft for children of all ages. Glitter Art is available in a multitude of designs, so young children can be given fairly basic designs while the older kids can be given more complicated pictures to colour. Glitter & Sand Art is especially good for children that feel intimidated by drawing and art.

The Glitter Art is pre-drawn, all they have to do is peel off the part of the design that they want to colour and then sprinkle the glitter on top. Follow our step by step instructions to learn how todecorate your own Glitter Art picture.

Read through all the instructions first before starting this craft. Make sure you have everything you will need at hand and that your working area is clean and tidy. Cover your surface with plastic or brown paper if you want to - glitter gets everywhere!

Step 1

Open the plastic folder and remove the picture and coloured glitter.

Step 2

Snip open the packets containing the coloured glitter with a scissors, and put each colour into a seperate small container. This helps keep things clean and makes things easier.

Step 3

When doing Glitter Art, it's always best to start with the darker colours first, so decide which is the darkest you want to use and start with that. Using a toothpick to help you lift the paper, peel and remove the paper from the area you want to colour. We're going to start with the unicorn's body.

Step 4

Pour the coloured glitter over the area where you removed the paper from your picture, don't be scared to use too much, the glitter will only stick where the sticker is exposed. You can use a soft brush or your finger to help spread the sand to the right areas.

Step 5

Lift the picture, gently curve it and tap it so that the excess glitter runs off and back into the container.

shake excess glitter

Step 6

Once you've shaken off the excess glitter, keep going, peeling the paper and exposing the sticker, colouring the sticker, one colour at a time and shaking off the excess glitter before moving onto the next colour.

Step 7

Keep going until the picture is finished, and then colour the background. You can peel the background paper off in strips if you want your background in various colours.
